Acupressure Massage
Acupressure massage is one of the oldest forms of healing on record. It involves applying pressure to specific pressure points on the body along the meridians, which are energy pathways that run throughout the body. These 14 pathways are believed to carry vital energy to different parts of the body and its organs. We find clusters of special cells in specific spots along these pathways that can be stimulated through pressure. This enhances the flow of energy through that meridian thereby improving health to the part of body and correlating organs.
Western scientists have shown that many of these points are located at key crossways of the autonomic nervous system. This may explain in part why they can affect pain that the patient experiences in a part of the body far from where the pressure is applied.
