Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage incorporates techniques designed to penetrate deeply into the muscle tissue and fascia. The movement is slower and more methodical to avoid straining the muscle. Often the elbows are used to provide deep, isolated pressure. For those who are not accustomed to massage therapy these techniques can be very painful, and for some, intolerable.
It is imperative that the muscles be warmed up and stretched using common techniques such as Swedish massage strokes before implementing deep tissue techniques. The benefits can be incredible in as little as one session. Good communication between therapist and client is essential to ensure the client remains comfortable.
